The Kingdom of Morocco welcomes that the UN Security Council on Monday adopted Resolution No. 2703 concerning the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, which occurs in “a context marked by the continuation of the positive dynamics that this file has experienced, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him”, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad .
Resolution 2703 renews the mandate of MINURSO for one year, until the end of October 2024.
In a press release, the Ministry emphasizes that the growing international support of almost a hundred countries for the Initiative for Moroccan Autonomy, the opening of more than thirty consulates general in Laâyoune and Dakhla, the non-recognition of more than 84% of the UN member states of the puppet entity, as well as the economic and social development of the region within The new model of development of the southern provinces actually reinforces the approach recommended by the Kingdom in dealing with this issue.
