Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed an order on the country’s withdrawal from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The proposal was made by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which has agreed with the relevant government bodies in accordance with a decree issued on Friday.
UNWTO members voted to exclude Russia from the organization on April 27, when a Russian delegation announced its withdrawal, the Xinhua news agency reported.
Later on Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the UNWTO had monopolized the countries of the European Union, “which they use in their own interests.”
Moscow has criticized the “politicization” of UNWTO activities and the “discrimination” of Russia.
