Thapanee Kiatphaiboon took office as the new TAT Governor.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaiboon assumed office as the new Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) on September 1, 2023.
Ms Thapanee joined TAT in 1999 after completing her Masters at the University of Surrey in the UK and has held various positions within the organization including Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Operations and most recently Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing.
In her last role as TAT Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing, Ms. Thapanee launched several tourism initiatives to help revive the Thai economy. These initiatives include work in Thailand, religious tourism routes and solo travel, which helped increase 151.45 million domestic trips in 2022, about 88% compared to the record year 2019. and generated 641.5 billion baht.
As Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Trade, Ms. Thapanee was recognized for her leadership in launching the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) certification program, which enables hotels and services to meet high standards specific to health and safety. This program has become a mandatory requirement for hotels wishing to register as quarantine facilities during the period of strict measures to control COVID-19 and has also received global recognition in accordance with WTTC SafeTravels protocols.
