Uzbekistan was elected a member of the UN Economic and Social Council’s (ECOSOC) Commission for Science and Technology Development for the period 2023-2026 at a meeting held at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday. reports Xinhua with reference to the Dune news agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Enabling Uzbekistan to participate in the work of this important UN body is a confirmation of the international community’s broad support for ongoing measures in the field of science and technology development, the report said.
According to local experts, Uzbekistan’s active involvement in the commissioner’s activities will provide lessons learned and best practices in developing, planning and forecasting key global trends in science, technology and innovation.
